TAS Among First Four Programs to Receive State Grants for Apprenticeship Innovation!

TAS is so incredibly proud and grateful to be among the FIRST FOUR apprenticeship programs in the state to receive funding from the Maryland Department of Labor, Licensing & Regulation‘s Apprenticeship Innovation Fund!

The fund was developed under the leadership of Governor Larry Hogan and MD Secretary of Labor Kelly Schulz “to provide seed money to businesses and apprenticeship providers committed to creating new apprenticeship opportunities to meet their workforce needs.” The fund is part of the 2 million dollar grant through the United States Department of Labor in October 2016.

Grant to fund expansion and pre-apprenticeship training

TAS received, “two awards in order to provide pre-apprenticeship services to over 200 apprentices. The first award will allow them to expand its operations in non-traditional apprenticeships in information technology, Digital Media and Cyber Security through outreach to new employers, recruit and attract apprentices through engagement with local schools and to expand the number of sites available for training. The second award will focus on providing employability sessions to pre-apprenticeship training that will assist the job-seekers with interview skills and/or practical, technical skills.”

A huge thank you to all who helped make this happen and to all who believe in and promote the apprenticeship movement!
