The transformative power of apprenticeships.

For Apprentices

Welcome to your new career

Apprenticeship is an earn-while-you-learn program that allows eager, hardworking individuals an opportunity to get into a career they are passionate about without necessarily having the complete skill set that the employer is advertising for in a traditional hire.

Apprentices apply and interview for full-time job opportunities and, when hired, participate in a minimum of 144 off-the-job training hours outside their full-time job. Apprentices also participate in 2,000 on-the-job training hours under the guidance of a fully skilled employer mentor. Most employers accepting apprentices require “day one skills,” which means applicants must possess some level of experience or familiarity with the specialty they are interested in.

An employer hires an apprentice as a full-time employee, like anyone else in their organization. However, they are hired at a lower starting wage, increasing earnings as they gain skills. At the end of the apprenticeship, an apprentice receives a nationally recognized certificate of completion from the Department of Labor, the full salary, and continues with that employer.
